BREAKING: Thailand’s Stock Exchange Suspends Trading After Strong Earthquake

The Stock Exchange of Thailand has suspended all trading activities after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday.
The tremors were felt in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
Before the suspension, the benchmark SET index (SETI) was last trading 1.05 per cent which was a one-week low of 1,175.45 points.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand said, “Following the earthquake incident, the Stock Exchange of Thailand hereby announces the immediate suspension of all trading activities.
“The closure affects all markets, including SET, the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI), and the Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), for today’s afternoon session.”
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) the quake, which struck at lunchtime, was of 7.7 magnitude and at a depth of 10 km.
The epicentre was about 17.2 km from the Myanmar city of Mandalay, which has a population of about 1.5 million.
