According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is recovering in a fortified hospital ward following prostate removal surgery.
His office announced that the procedure, performed due to a benign enlargement of the prostate complicated by a urinary tract infection, was successful and without complications.
“The prime minister has woken up, is in good condition, and is completely conscious, the statement confirmed.
Netanyahu will remain hospitalized for several days. He was transferred to a secure underground ward as a precaution against potential rocket fire, highlighting the ongoing security concerns in the region.
The surgery comes amidst heightened tensions. Two days earlier, Israeli forces conducted a raid on the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, resulting in widespread destruction and forcing patients to flee.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military operations in Gaza have claìmed over 45,500 lìves and devastated the enclave.
International legal bodies, including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, are pursuing cases against Netanyahu and other Israeli officials for alleged wàr crìmes and genocide.
Despite these controversies, Netanyahu’s health update has drawn attention back to his leadership amid Israel’s internal and external challenges.
