BREAKING: ‘They left Intensive Care Unit for morgue’, PDP spokesperson says as he dumps party

The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Kennedy Peretei has announced his resignation from the party.

Peretei in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, said the party is dead as it has allegedly left the Intensive Care Unit (ICU to the mortuary

Letter addressed to the PDP chairman in Arogbo Ward 1 in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State and titled, ‘I quit as the PDP in Ondo State leaves the intensive-care unit for the morgue.’

Peretei said it has become clear to him that the leaders of the PDP have zero intention of winning any election in the future.

Noting that the party and its leadership have made it difficult for people with genuine interest for the PDP and the development of Nigeria to strive, Peretei said some leaders now use the PDP for trade during elections.

He said, “I was privileged to serve as the State Financial Secretary of the PDP at its infancy (1999-2003) and served again as State Publicity Secretary, 2020 to date. I contributed my quota at every level.

“But the same people who have held the party hostage, making it impossible to win elections in the last three election cycles, have tightened their grip on a party that laid prostrate in the Intensive Care Unit. The PDP in Ondo State is now on its way to the morgue.

“For those who depend on election funds and party patronage to run their families, I admonish them to seek second addresses, so that, they can live more meaningful lives than that of political bandits, Almajaris or just ‘Yes men’,” he stated.
