In a news published by The Nation News, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has predicted that the recent Anambra rerun election foreshadows the upcoming 2025 governorship election in the state. Following the victory of Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidates in various federal constituencies, Senator Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial zone, spoke with reporters, labeling himself a ‘street general’.
Highlighting the significance of the election results, Senator Ubah underscored the message it sends to Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He emphasized that the overwhelming support for his party’s candidates in Nnewi North, South, Ekwusigo, Orumba North, and South constituencies reflects the sentiment of the people, despite his absence from the campaign trail.
Senator Ubah, who intends to contest the 2025 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted his influence in securing victories for YPP candidates. He stated that his successful strategy during the rerun election serves as a litmus test for the future political landscape of Anambra state.
Expressing his confidence in the support of Nnewi residents, Senator Ubah asserted his control over the region and warned against attempts to undermine him or the electorate.
The declaration by Senator Ubah signals a shift in the political dynamics of Anambra state, with implications for the upcoming gubernatorial contest in 2025.
“These House of Representatives re-run elections will serve as a litmus test for 2025 Governorship elections in the state. The governor and his party should know that.
“They should know I own Nnewi and Nnewi people own me. You cannot come to Nnewi to intimidate the people or humiliate me.”
