BREAKING: TikTok will restore US service ‘in a short time’ if ban is reversed —Report

ByteDance-owned social media company TikTok will restore service “in a relatively short time” if the proposed move to ban its operations in the US is reversed.

This is according to a report published on Wednesday by Reuters, which stated that unless the court steps in, TikTok will shut its app for U.S. users on Sunday, January 19.

Anonymous sources also told the publication that it would mean that anyone in the U.S. who opens the app will see a pop-up message that will take them to a website with information about the ban.

Per a report by Bloomberg, the Chinese government is mulling the idea of selling the social media platform, which faces an impending ban in the US.

However, ByteDance has played down Elon Musk’s potential takeover while reacting to the report, which will potentially place the tech billionaire in an unprecedented position of owning X (formerly Twitter) and also overseeing the American operations of TikTok.
