BREAKING: Tinubu arrives Tanzania along with Bianca Ojukwu, others

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, scheduled to take place on January 27 and 28.

The President, who landed at 10:20 p.m. local time (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time), was welcomed by Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, Amb. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, and Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires to Tanzania, Amb. Salisu Suleiman.

He was accompanied by key government officials, including Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power; and Mr. Olu Verheijen, the Special Adviser to the President on Energy.

The summit, hosted by the government of Tanzania in collaboration with the African Union, African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank, seeks to advance Mission 300—a vision to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

On the first day, participating countries will present their national energy strategies, or “compacts,” outlining their approaches to achieving universal energy access within five years. The second day will feature a meeting of African leaders, during which they will endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, setting a unified roadmap for achieving the summit’s objectives.

President Tinubu is expected to deliver a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to universal energy access and its leadership role in Africa’s energy sector.
