The eight-point peace agreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, was mediated by President Tinubu, and renowned Ijaw leader Edwin Clark has disclosed an alleged incident that occurred on that day.
In an interview with Channels TV, Pa Edwin Clark said, Tinubu stormed into the hall brandishing a paper that contained the agreement and denounced Governor Fubara for being an undemocrat, claiming that he had only needed five votes to pass his budget for Rivers State into law. He claimed that after that, Tinubu gave the document to former Rivers State governor Peter Odili to read. He claimed that when it came time for the attendees to sign the agreement, Odili and Fubara, who also needed to sign in red ink, signed in black ink, while Wike and the NSA, Ribadu, signed in red.
Pa Edwin Clark claims that “as soon as President Tinubu entered the hall, he attacked Governor Fubara, accusing him of being an undemocratic. For what reason did he do that? since he employed five members to enact his budget. The former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, was given the piece of paper by him to read, and Mr. President interrupted him as he did so. Ultimately, the participants were asked to sign the contract.
