President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This meeting is part of Wang Yi’s two-day working visit to Nigeria.
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, held a high-profile meeting with Wang Yi and his delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
The discussion centred on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, with a focus on cooperation in trade, investment, health, technology, and infrastructure development.
Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a more resilient partnership with China. He recalled President Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, during which four Memoranda of Understanding were signed. Tuggar emphasized that the implementation of these agreements remains on track.
On his part, Wang Yi stated that his visit marks the continuation of deliberations from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit held last year.
