On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu extended their congratulations to Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, Chairman of Eleganza Group, as he celebrated his 85th birthday on January 12, 2025.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Okoya for his remarkable achievements and lasting legacy in Nigeria’s business sector.
“For over six decades, your efforts have not only inspired countless businesses to thrive but have also made significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s economy,” Tinubu stated.
“The companies and industries you founded have provided jobs for thousands of Nigerians.”
The President also recognised Okoya’s civic involvement, emphasising his dedication to advancing education and spirituality in Nigeria.
“Your generosity in providing scholarships has transformed many lives,” Tinubu remarked, encouraging Nigerians to emulate Okoya’s pioneering qualities in business. He also prayed for Allah’s continued blessings and good health for Okoya.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a post on X, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Okoya’s economic impact, particularly in Lagos State where many of his businesses are based.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I wish Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya a happy 85th birthday,” Sanwo-Olu said. “His significant contributions to the economy, and the lives of many Nigerians, especially in Lagos, have inspired countless people to pursue their dreams.”
The governor further praised Okoya’s philanthropy, which has provided scholarships and financial aid to small businesses.
“Chief Okoya’s generosity reflects his commitment to uplifting others,” Sanwo-Olu remarked, adding his prayers for Okoya’s continued health and strength.
