BREAKING: To me, this government is a continuation of the former government; it is the same party

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, refuted the widely held belief that poverty and insecurity in Nigeria are the product of the current government, claiming that it is a continuation of the previous one and belongs to the same political party, according to the Daily Trust report.

It is imperative to identify and solve the underlying causes that are producing these problems, he contended. He underlined that the historic institution, in which he claimed the confidence of millions of people, had an obligation to assist in resolving the problems facing the country.

He said, “What are the real issues bringing about poverty and rising cases of insecurity? I don’t think it is the issue of the new government. To me, this government is a continuation of the former government; it is the same party. So, what really is the problem? I think that is one of the reasons we are here to talk to ourselves.

We owe it a duty to the millions of people that believe in the traditional institution, to bring solutions to the various problems facing them. We will not fail in doing that. We will do our best.”
