BREAKING: Tobi Amusan Trains With Usain Bolt’s Ex-Coach In Jamaica

World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, is currently training in Jamaica under the esteemed coach Glen Mills, renowned for his work with multiple world record holders, including the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt.

As reported by Radio Jamaica Sports, Tobi Amusan has been training in Jamaica since September, following her challenging experience at the Paris Olympics. She may continue her training there throughout the entire 2025 season.

The 27-year-old Nigerian athlete captured the world title in Eugene, Oregon, in 2022 and set an impressive world record of 12.12 seconds in the semi-finals.

Amusan is poised to refine her skills even further under the guidance of the legendary Glen Mills, who is also the president of the Racers Track Club.

Before this, Amusan trained with Lascena Golding-Clarke, a former Commonwealth champion and retired Jamaican hurdler, who has played a pivotal role in her development. She frequently praises Golding-Clarke for the lessons learned and the invaluable support received during her training.

“From you, I have learned strength, determination, self-discipline, and respect, among many others. Mrs. Clarke, I can’t thank you enough for your dedication to helping me pursue my goals and for all of your inspiring lessons,” Amusan said, highlighting the significant impact Golding-Clarke has had on her career after she graduated from UTEP in 2023.

Even after her induction into the University of Texas El Paso’s Hall of Fame in November, Amusan acknowledged Golding-Clarke’s influence, stating, “Coach Lascena Golding Clarke, I’m forever indebted to you for accepting to mentor this little girl with the weirdest hurdles techniques.”

Although Amusan has been relatively low-profile since the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she narrowly missed the final, her impressive track record remains noteworthy.

She has represented Nigeria in three Olympic Games, is a four-time African Games champion, five-time African champion, three-time Diamond League winner (2021, 2022, 2023), and a two-time Commonwealth Games champion (2018 and 2022).
