The prestigious 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was brought to a close on Sunday with host nations, Ivory Coast, emerging victors of this edition’s tournament by upsetting the Nigerian Super Eagles by a scoreline of 2-1 in the finals.
Dortmund’s Sebastian Haller and former Barcelona and AC Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie were among the goals as Ivory Coast secured their 3rd continental title to establish themselves as “reigning African champions”.

The Nigerian centre-half outscored Victor Osimhen in the competition and captained his side to final, which they lost 2-1 against Ivory Coast.

Unfortunately for the Equatorial Guinea captain, all five of his AFCON goals was not sufficient to drag his nation to the quarter-finals as they were dumped out of the competition in the last 16.
It was quite obvious that Ivory Coast’s dramatic 2-1 comeback over Nigeria was Andriga’s doing as the Brighton winger tormented and claimed both assists for Kessie and Haller’s goals respectively.
Aside from making six total stops in two penalty shootout, Williams was simply outstanding for Angola in between the sticks
