Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory has pleaded with Muslims to ensure they pray for Nigeria throughout the Ramadan period.
In a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, the minister’s media aide, Wike said the fasting period will avail the Muslims an opportunity to offer prayers to Allah for peace and unity among citizens.
He also admonished the Muslims to ensure they pay attention to the teachings of Islamic scholars while living by the tenets of the Holy Quran.
Wike said; “Fasting as one of the five pillars of Islam should not be just a period for abstaining from food and drink, the period should also be used to pray fervently for the country.
“It is my plea to our Muslim brothers and sisters to open their hearts and minds to the Tesfir of the Holy Month of Ramadan and allow themselves to be guided by them,” the minister stated.
He also congratulated the Muslims for making it to the first day of the fasting period while praying that Allah gives them the strength to complete the holy month of Ramadan which lasts for 30 days.
“I wish all Muslim Faithful a Ramadan filled with joy, and togetherness. May your ibadah be acceptable to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). This holy month will bring us peace, prosperity, and endless blessings,” Wike said.
