Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly addressed the lawsuit filed against him by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, clearly stating that he has no intentions of apologising.
Mercy Chinwo, through her legal representatives, filed a defamation lawsuit at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, demanding ₦1.1 billion in damages.
The suit alleges that VDM falsely accused the singer of misappropriating $345,000 without remitting it to her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, owned by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (EeZee Tee).
As part of the lawsuit, Chinwo also requested that VDM delete his posts, issue a public apology, and retract his statements.
In response, VDM took to social media, maintaining that he had not said anything defamatory.
He argued that Chinwo should resolve her issues with EeZee Conceptz directly.
He also questioned why “someone who claims to rely on God would resort to taking legal action against him”.
Despite initially contemplating an apology, VDM later revealed he had decided against it.
He also disclosed that he has a backup plan to get himself out of the situation but refused to reveal any further details.
