Vice President Kashim Shettima has landed at the Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
Upon arrival, Senator Shettima was received by Abdulmohsen Bin Nayef Bin Hamed, the Deputy Governor of Madina Region, along with Nigerian diplomatic officials including the Consulate General of Jeddah, Ambassador Mu’azzam Nayaya.
The Vice President is in Medina to visit the Holy Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and other holy sites. He will also proceed to Mecca, where he will perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah).
On December 20, 2024, Shettima is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah.
The discussions would centre on co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II) and enhancing coordination of IsDB projects in Nigeria to support the country’s agricultural and economic development.
Naija News reported that Shettima left Dubai for Saudi Arabia following his representation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited (OERL).
He was seen off at the airport by the Executive Chairman of OERL, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi; the Executive Vice Chairman of OERL, Engr. Goni M. Sheikh and many others.
Following the Dubai event, the Vice President would perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah) in the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah from December 16 to 19, 2024.
The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, accompanied him.
