BREAKING: We can’t be celebrating Babangida, Primate Ayodele warns Nigerians

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele has warned Nigerians against celebrating a former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.

Ayodele’s warning comes on the heels of the autobiography presentation by Babangida and some of his confessions on incidents that took place during his time as Nigeria’s Head of State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 25, by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho, the cleric said if care is not taken, Nigeria’s democracy will become the people’s bane.

According the statement, Ayodele described the style of democracy practiced in Nigeria as corrupt and one driven by desperation and hatred among leaders and the masses.

He said, “If we are not careful, democracy will tear us apart because so many things are faulty in our democracy, and nobody has ever sought reforms of our democracy.

“Our constitution needs to be reviewed if we want Nigeria to survive because everyone just comes to do whatever they want. All is not well with our democracy,” the cleric advised.

The cleric further stated that reactions eliciting from Babangida’s book shows that terror has become heroic in Nigeria’s democracy.

He said, “Babangida recently said MKO Abiola won the election he annulled, and we are praising such. Terror has become heroic in our democracy. He realized billions for a project that cannot add value to Nigeria’s democracy, but we are celebrating such today. We celebrate injustice, corruption, and division in our democracy. It’s too toxic for the unity of Nigeria.

“Even traditional rulers are now acting like state chairmen of political parties, running helter-skelter for candidates to win elections,” he added.
