In a recent appearance on Symfoni TV from 10:19, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, shifted focus from future political aspirations to immediate national concerns when questioned about his potential 2027 presidential bid.
Emphasizing the importance of addressing current challenges, Obi stated, “For me, what is important now is that we look after them. We need to get Nigeria to walk now, and then we’ll talk about the next election.”
The former Anambra State governor stressed that his present focus is on the welfare of citizens. “The purpose of coming here is their care. When the next election comes, we’ll take it from there,” he remarked. Adding further clarity to his priorities, Obi noted, “But now how do we get this solved? This people want to go home, they want to live in a better environment, they want a better care. That’s it.”
This response from the Labour Party’s 2023 standard-bearer suggests a commitment to addressing immediate national challenges rather than engaging in early political positioning for the next electoral cycle.
