Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, has criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Bwala described El-Rufai’s decision as an “inordinate ambition” that will not succeed.
El-Rufai announced his defection to the SDP on Monday, March 10, 2025, after openly criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC.
In a statement, he explained that after consulting widely, he chose the SDP as a platform to continue his political goals.
Reacting to the move, Bwala acknowledged El-Rufai’s right to switch parties but questioned his true intentions.
In a tweet, he suggested that El-Rufai’s alliance with those opposing Tinubu is not based on ideology or progressivism but personal ambition.
He tweeted:
“Senior, @elrufai, I read the news today that you resigned from APC to join SDP. While you have the right to do so, we will soon examine your motive and remind Nigerians that your decision did not come out of nowhere. Associating with sore losers to unseat the president is not an ideology or progressivism—it is simply an ambition doomed to fail.”
