Ahmad Sajoh, a former commissioner of information for the state of Adamawa, has applauded the Nigerian police force’s calculated decision to provide demonstrators in Lagos with biscuits and clean water.
He hailed this strategy as a genius, stressing the value of eschewing a combative reaction. He was honest enough to admit that using force would have made things much more chaotic. Recall that on February 27, during the NLC’s nonviolent match protest, the Nigerian Police Force gave away snacks and clean water to demonstrators.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”Whoever advised the Nigerian police to share biscuits and pure water to protesters should be lauded. That was a masterstroke. Let’s be honest, if the police had gone there after these people with the jackboot, with the guns, with the tear gas, it would have been a messy situation.”
