The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one Khadija Aliyu for allegedly stealing a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in the Keffi Area of the state.
Khadija had been claiming to be pregnant before she carried out the act.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect attended a naming ceremony at Behind INEC office, Keffi.
DSP Nansel said the suspect sneaked into the house while the ceremony was going on and stole the baby who was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped.
The police spokesman further said the suspect was later arrested on the 28th of September, 2024, at about 6:30 pm by police operatives attached to the Keffi Division of the command.
