BREAKING: Woman Receives N500,000 Reward for Returning Cash For School Feeding Programme

A woman, Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama on Tuesday, December 17, received N500,000 as reward for returning money meant for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding programme in Katsina State.

The reward was handed to the woman by the Katsina State government for returning N748,320 to the state government.

Presenting the reward to Abdulkadir-Yanmama, the Executive Director, Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency, Mudassir Nasir, said the woman had received the money in her bank account with school feeding programme as narration.

Nasir said the money was meant to have been transferred as payment to vendors who were providing services for the programme.

He said, “She told us that she received an alert with a narration titled payment for vendors who were providing primary school pupils with free food.

“The woman decided to come to our office because she was not on the register for vendors who provide food for our pupils and she was not part of such a programme.

“We requested for her bank statement and the office of the auditor-general verified that she was telling the truth,” Nasir noted.

He further stated that the governor of the state, Dikko Radda, directed that the woman should be rewarded for her honesty and show of integrity.

In addition to N500,000 reward, the woman was also handed a commendation letter from the State government. She was offered to participate in the next school feeding programme.

In her response, Abdulkadir-Yanmama said, “I knew that I had to return the money because it doesn’t belong to me.”

She also appreciated the governor and the management of the school feeding programme for the support and encouragement given to her.
