BREAKING: You will overcome your enemies, Secondus tells Fubara

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has assured Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, that he will overcome his political adversaries, urging him to remain strong and courageous amid challenges.

Secondus gave the assurance while performing the inauguration of the 13.985km Bori internal roads project in Khana Local Government Area on Tuesday.

The event, held at the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Bori Town, highlighted Governor Fubara’s commitment to infrastructure development and urban renewal in Rivers State.

Secondus remarks comes amid the running political battle between Fubara and his estranged political godfather and predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Secondus praised Fubara’s leadership style, describing him as a man of humility, faith, and respect for elders. He also took a swipe at unnamed political opponents, saying, “Be strong and be courageous, because you will overcome your enemies. Those who are shouting in Abuja, how were they made? It is God and some of us and the leaders seated here today that made it possible.”

He added, “Your Excellency, don’t worry, power comes from God. The same way God gave it to them through us, God has given it to you. From what we have seen, you will excel because you love and respect the people, leaders, and elders of the State.”

Secondus commended Fubara for his dedication to delivering developmental projects, particularly in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, and urged residents to take ownership of the roads and infrastructure provided by the administration.

Governor Fubara, in his remarks, reiterated his administration’s focus on delivering projects that directly benefit the people. He emphasised that his commitment to the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, where Bori Town is located, is genuine and driven by a desire for inclusive development.

The governor also appealed to the people of Bori to foster a welcoming environment for strangers, saying such openness encourages development and growth.

“We must change our attitude and be accommodating. It is only when Uche Secondus rangers come into your place that development comes. People must come, live with you, and you have to accommodate them,” Fubara said.

On the project itself, Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Barrister Elloka Tasie-Amadi, described the Bori Town Internal Roads as spanning 23 streets, measuring 13.985km, with 10,000 meters of drains. He assured residents that the roads were built to last, with high-quality materials and functional drainage systems.

Fubara also promised a second phase of the project, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to transforming Bori Town into a thriving urban center.

The event was attended by stakeholders, traditional rulers, and residents of Bori, who hailed the road project as a significant milestone for the area.
