BREAKING: Youths Flee, Abandon Cars as Alleged EFCC Operatives Storm Ekpoma in Buses on Valentine’s Night

A late-night raid by suspected operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ekpoma, Edo State, led to confusion in the town as youths fled in panic, abandoning their cars on the streets.

The incident took place on Valentine’s Night on Friday.

Viral videos circulating on social media captured the moment youths ran in different directions as multiple EFCC buses arrived in the area. Many young people left their vehicles behind and took off on foot, fearing arrest. Some of the footage also included sounds of gunshots.

It is understood that mobile phones were seized from ladies at a clubhouse while some young men were arrested.

On social media, users expressed outrage over the timing and manner of the raid. Many questioned why the EFCC would carry out such an operation in the middle of the night, comparing the situation to an armed robbery.

It can be recalled that in 2023, the Chairman of the EFCV, Ola Olukoyede, ordered that sting operations at night be stopped in all the commission’s commands.
