Buhari directs Osinbajo, and all outgoing officials to declare their assets

According to Vanguard News, President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly ordered all outgoing officials, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to reveal their assets on Friday.

The Declaration of Assets Form was also sent to the President by Prof. Isah Mohammed, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

At the presidential palace in Abuja, the president was presented with the Declaration of Assets Form.

The Constitution requires public officials to declare their financial position prior to taking office.

In a statement following receipt of the form, President Buhari stated that his strict adherence to the constitutional requirement of disclosing assets prior to and after taking office is done so in order to advance best practices, raise moral standards in the public sector, support the development of integrity, and combat corruption.

As a result, he issued an order requiring all departing officials, both elected and appointed, from the Vice President on down, to gather, complete, and return the asset declaration form.

President Buhari stated that no one is exempt from the Constitution’s requirement that all of their assets be declared while picking up his form from Professor Mohammed.

He asserts that I signed, obtained, and verified receiving my documents. My bank manager in Kaduna will then send me a statement outlining all of the transactions that have taken place. Everyone must reveal their financial details. I assumed that everyone would follow the regulations, even the vice president.

Professor Mohammed asserts that the President’s support of the Bureau over the previous eight years and his compliance allowed the Bureau to achieve 99% compliance by elected and appointed officials.

He also expressed his appreciation for the President’s support in helping the organization realize its goal of digitizing its services and processes, which made it possible for it to start cases with greater efficiency.
