President Muhammadu Buhari has gifted Nigerian athletes who won medals at the World Athletic Championship in Oregon, USA and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham N200 million for their outstanding performances.

Buhari hosted the entire contingents at the Commonwealth Games to a reception on Thursday at the State House, Abuja.

The president also presented national honours to the medalists, with the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles Tobi Amusan leading the others.

Amusan, Ese Brume, Adijat Olarinoye and other medalists were honoured with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award.

Special assistant on digital communications to the president, Bashir Ahmad, shared a video on Twitter of Amusan receiving her award from the president.
