Butler-Oyedeji, Nwaneri train with Arsenal first team ahead of Juventus friendly

Two attack-minded Anglo-Nigerian teenagers are still with the Arsenal first team following their return from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where a warm weather training camp was held in preparation for the Premier League restart.

Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta monitored winger Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri at close quaters on Friday, December 16, a day before the friendly against European powerhouse Juventus.

The two highly-rated youngsters were selected to travel to the United Arab Emirates for the Dubai Super Cup and were utilized off the bench in the wins against Lyon and AC Milan.

Nwaneri, Butler-Oyedeji and the first team players trained in the cold weather at London Colney as they prepared for the visit of Juventus, putting the two Anglo-Nigerians in contention to be included in the matchday squad  this evening.

Butler-Oyedeji is the top scorer for Arsenal’s development squad this season with six goals in all competitions and has been on the books of the Gunners since the age of eight, rising through the ranks before signing his first professional contract in 2021.

Nwaneri is Arsenal’s youngest player in history, making his senior debut in a Premier League clash at Brentford in September aged 15 years and 181 days.
