Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, has defended his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing accusations of opportunism.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Bwala clarified that his association with the APC is not new.
“I am not like a newcomer. I have only been away for like seven months,” Bwala stated, referencing his brief departure from the party. He added, “You have practically interviewed me eight years before the election, consistently defending APC as an APC member. My credential is in your hand.”
Bwala’s comments come amid mounting criticisms over his acceptance of a media aide role after previously harshly criticising the APC and President Tinubu. Critics have questioned the credibility of his appointment, pointing to his prior opposition to the party’s policies.
In his defence, Bwala suggested that many of the attacks against him are orchestrated. “Some of those things are sponsored,” he said, dismissing the controversies as politically motivated.
Bwala also sought to highlight his long-standing contributions to the APC. “I am not the only subject of the decision of the President that touched on people, probably APC and the rest. They have their reasons, but everything is ‘Bwala Bwala,’” he remarked.
The adviser’s remarks are part of ongoing efforts to address the backlash, as his critics continue to question his shifting allegiances.
