Chelsea have club legend Thiago Silva to thank for signing the next rising superstar in football, or at least partly to thank.
Of course, the hard work was done by those who negotiated the deal and got it done ahead of other interested clubs.
But as is always the case with these transfer deals, players will be influenced by other factors when making big decisions in their career.
And for Estevao Willian, one of those factors was a conversation for Thiago Silva ahead of joining Chelsea.
We all know just how good Estevao is and is going to be in years to come as well, so we know that he had a trail of top clubs trying to sign him when Chelsea were trying to sign him.
But a chat with Silva was a good difference maker for Estevao and clearly helped him make his mind up after hearing praise from Silva about the club.

Estevão said on meeting Thiago Silva before joining Chelsea:
“We had a brief conversation, he came and spoke to me and asked if I would like to sign for the club, that the club had an incredible structure.
“I was really happy because Thiago Silva is an idol of this club, it was an incredible opportunity.
“For the rest of that year, I was anticipating it. I watched a lot of Chelsea games so I could see who I would be working with here, and thanks to God it’s all going well. I’m very happy with life right now and it’s been incredible.”
