Chelsea Players Whose Current Contract Is Set To Expire This Summer

Chelsea football club endured a very humiliating and poor 2022/23 season. The Blues will not play in any of the European competitions and also will have to play in the playoff of the Carabao and FA Cup next season. However, the Blues will also bring in some players to help them have a more successful season. Ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, the Blues need to release some players in other to strengthen the squad with quality players.

Despite not qualifying for any European competition next season, Chelsea will have to venture into the transfer market to try and bring in world-class players, while a few players whose contract is set to expire will find their way out of the team. Although the Blues may want to keep some of the stars, they are trading with caution to avoid financial breaches after Todd Boehly’s transfer exodus during the last summer and the winter window. Here are three players whose contract is set to expire this season.

N’golo Kante.

The Frenchman has been in and out of the squad throughout this season due to injury. He has been unavailable for the better part of the season and could make his way out of the club after this season. The Frenchman’s contract will end on June 30, 2023.

Denis Zakaria.

Despite joining from Juventus to succeed N’golo Kante in the defensive midfield position, the 26-year-old failed to leave up to expectations. He’s set to move on in search of playing with his contract set to come to an end on the 30th of June 2023.

Joao Felix.

The Portuguese international who joined on loan from Atletico Madrid is set to go back to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium after a six months contract that cost Chelsea a whopping sum of £ 12 million. Joao’s contract will come to an end on the 30th of June 2023, after Atletico Madrid failed to add an option to buy.
