Christian Genocide Allegations: Jaafar Ties Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket to Trump’s Military Threat
Investigative journalist, Jaafar Jaafar, has said that the recent military threat against Nigeria by U.S. President, Donald Trump, may be a “karmic payback” for President Bola Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 general election.
Naija News reports that Jaafar suggested that Trump’s rhetoric on alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria was a reaction to the religious politics that defined Tinubu’s presidential victory.
Reacting to Trump’s latest comments, Jaafar said the U.S. president’s remarks targeting Nigeria under Tinubu’s administration were ironic and reflected how religious manipulation in politics could return to haunt those who benefited from it.
Jaafar wrote on (formerly Twitter) on Monday, “Trump’s selective outbursts over killings under the Tinubu administration is a karmic payback for using religion to gain political advantage.
“Trump too is unfairly using religion to stoke anger and divide us. Even if the Muslim-Muslim ticket is politically correct, it is wrong for our stability as a nation.”
Jaafar noted that while Tinubu’s choice of running mate during the 2023 elections was strategically beneficial, it sent the wrong signal in a multi-religious nation like Nigeria.
The journalist further argued that successful governance should prioritise inclusivity and national unity over religious or regional dominance.
Jaafar added, “Politics is not just a game of numbers, but a game of inclusivity and give-and-take. Numbers can produce votes, but not political stability and unity.”
