Chuks Akunna “We Were In Nigeria When A Chief Of Army Staff Died In An Air Crash In This Same Kaduna”

Public affairs expert Chuks Akunna talked about the terrible occurrence of an army airstrike in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, in a recent appearance on the AIT Kakaaki show.

Akunna brought up a previous incident during the talk in which the Chief of Army Staff perished in an aircraft accident in Kaduna. He claimed that even though the deceased was buried in Abuja during the last occurrence, neither the President nor the Vice President personally attended the funeral.

Akunna’s remarks came as he analysed the response of the current presidency to the accidental airstrike that resulted in civilian casualties in Kaduna.

He commended President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their recent demonstrations of compassion and support towards the victims of the tragedy.

Akunna said, “Sometimes in life, mistakes happen, but what happens after the mistakes is of importance.

“We were in Nigeria when a Chief of Army Staff died in an air crash in this same Kaduna State and was buried in Abuja. We had a sitting President and Vice President; the military cemetery is less than 5 kilometres from the city centre, and none of these men—the President or the Vice President—attended the funeral of the serving Chief of Army Staff.

“But we have seen the show of compassion and support by the presidency. Vice President Shettima visited Kaduna State, went to the hospital, and met with victims and their families. It is very good; it is a radical departure from what used to be.”
