Coaching Super Eagles Is Not For Everybody – Peseiro Warns His Possible Replacement

The former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has warned coaches interested in replacing him to be aware of the enormous task that comes with managing the team, OwnGoalNigeria reports.

Peseiro spent 18 months as coach of the team and after leading them to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, where they were beaten 1-2 by the host Cote d’Ivoire, the coach announced that he won’t be renewing his contract which expired at the end of last month.

He turned down the option of extending the deal offered by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) due to a disparity in what the football house proposed as salary and what he wants as his pay.

The NFF declared his position vacant and made a call for interested candidates to apply for the job. A decision on who will get the job is expected to be made in April.

Speaking on his time as coach, Peseiro said in an interview that the job can easily pass as one of the most difficult to have, because of the ever demanding teeming of the team.

” It’s not a job for everybody. You really don’t know what to expect at the job. One minute you are doing well and in a flash another person is questioning how well you are doing. We had our best AFCON performance in 11 years, but we still have people not happy about how we got there. The fans want to win everything and in style. A very difficult job it is”, he rounded up saying.
