Court merges PDP, LP, APM’s petition fixes May 30 for hearing

The Presidential Election Petition Court has consolidated all the petitions filed by the three petitioners, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), and their presidential candidates.

Vanguard report that, The court fixed May 30 for the commencement of trial in the three petitions during which the petitioners will be expected to call their first sets of witnesses.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsamani, made this known on Tuesday while presenting the court pre-hearing report.

The results of the presidential election held on February 25 are being contested by all three parties. Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was proclaimed the victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to Vanguard, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP received 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) received 6,101,533 votes, giving Tinubu an overall vote total of 8,794,726.

The Tribunal gave the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, three weeks to present their case during the hearing on Tuesday at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
