The Sultanate Council in Sokoto has announced that the search for the new Moon of Ramadan 1446AH will begin on Friday, February 28, 2025.
According to the council, Muslims across the country should watch for the appearance of the crescent on that day.
Anyone who spots the new moon is expected to report their sighting to the nearest District or Village Head.
These reports will then be forwarded to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who also serves as the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
If the moon is seen, the sighting will be officially confirmed and announced.
The council has also provided phone numbers for individuals who wish to report their observations directly.
