Dave Umahi claims that Tinubu is not lamenting his inheritance of more than ₦6 trillion in debt from Buhari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who inherited over ₦6 trillion in debt from ongoing road projects across the nation that his predecessor, Former President Muhammadu Buhari, handed over to him, is not moaning, according to David Umahi, the Minister of Works and the most recent governor of Ebonyi State.

Sahara Reporters reports that the Minister revealed this information in a statement issued by the Ministry of improvements on Monday. The announcement revealed that President Tinubu has granted ₦300 billion for immediate palliative road improvements throughout the 36 states of the nation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Some parts of the statement read: “Mr. President is not complaining of the challenges he inherited in nearly all sectors of the economy, especially as it concerns our road infrastructure, but he is quite courageous as he had promised to tackle the problem head-on, which he has started to do not minding the debt burden inherited especially the funding gap of over six trillion Naira (₦6T) from most of the inherited ongoing road projects.”

Furthermore, the ministry disclosed that President Tinubu directed that works in those palliative projects must start before the 1st of December 2023, assuring Nigerians that all the regions in the country must benefit from the project. The ministry also urged the members of the public to crosscheck their claims and report back to them.

In addition, the ministry made it known that President Tinubu is aware of the state of our roads in the country, noting that he will do everything within his power to make sure that things are changed positively in the country.
