Delta Police Eliminate Suspects Accused of Killing Palm Wine Tapper
Police operatives have killed the kidnapping gang responsible for the murder of a palm wine tapper in Delta State.
Recall Dockaysworld reported that the victim was killed last week after his family could only offer N10,000 as ransom.
According to an update shared by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who accompanied the security operatives, the operation was carried out on Monday with intelligence support from Safe City Hydra.
Operatives stormed the location earlier today and killed the suspects. An AK-47 rifle and mobile phones believed to belong to victims were recovered.
The gang had been tracked from Auchi before fleeing to Ekpoma and later diverting toward Uromi and Ewohimi.
They eventually moved into Igbodo, Delta State, where they kidnapped a woman and collected ransom. The woman later identified the neutralized suspects as her abductors.
The same gang had earlier kidnapped a man in Emuhu, abducted two palm wine tappers, and killed one of them. They reportedly escaped through Abavo and crossed into Urhonigbe in Edo North using the railway line.
Gwamnishu stated that four days ago, the Safe City Hydra team arrived Obiaruku to begin the final phase of the mission. They received support from the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Possible Ajede.
Hon. Ajede assigned officers from the State Command SACU and two civilian Anti-Cult operatives to join the operation. Multiple air surveillance flights helped pinpoint the kidnappers’ hideout.
The team thanked Hon. Ajede for his support. They also acknowledged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Governor Monday Okpebholo for mobilizing security agencies across both states.
