Lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Senator Ali Ndume, has revealed that he does not engage in fights he is not confident of winning.
Naija News reports that Ndume made this known during an interview on Channels Television while reacting to conversations about confrontations and heated exchanges among senators during plenary sessions.
The discussion took a tense but playful turn when the programme’s anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, joked that the senator might be too old to get involved in physical altercations on the Senate floor and could end up being beaten.
The comment came as they discussed how lawmakers handle disagreements in the chamber.
In response, Ndume said he does not pick fights he cannot handle and expressed confidence in his ability to defend himself. He added, teasingly, that if the anchor attempted to challenge him, he would deal with him.
According to him, “I don’t pick a fight that I cannot win. Like you now, if you try me, I’ll beat you up because I know I can beat you. At the end of this meeting, let’s go out, and you’ll see how I’ll deal with you.”
Ali Ndume’s comments come after he, Adams Oshiomhole, and Nwaebonyi were involved in a heated exchange during the national budget debate last week. See more
