Edo APC condemns Obaseki’s last-minute appointments with associates

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has condemned the plan by the outgoing governor, Godwin Obaseki to convert his former aides to civil servants in the state.

Jarrett Tenebe, the chairman of the party in a statement issued on Friday, November 8, accused Obaseki of making last-minute decisions that would create challenges for the incoming governor, Monday Okpebholo.

Tenebe said the APC has been inundated with reports of plans by the governor to cause chaos in the state.

He said, “Of note is his unilateral decision to convert hundreds of his former political aides and personal staff from Afrinvest into the Edo State Civil Service.

“In doing so, Obaseki disregarded established civil service requirements by failing to declare a vacancy and by usurping the role of the Edo State Civil Service Commission,” Tenebe said.

The party said that the move by the governor was a violation of his oath of office and an act of economic sabotage against the people and the state.
