EFCC Hands Over 14 Forfeited Properties to Enugu State

On April 24, 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handed over 14 properties to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah. These properties were initially forfeited to the Federal Government but have now been ceded to Enugu State.

The handover ceremony was held at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. EFCC Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, officiated the transfer.

Olukoyede emphasized the mutually beneficial relationship between the federal government and states. He stated that the handover represented a testament to the benefits of good governance and the rights of citizens to enjoy its fruits.

The forfeiture process began in 2007, Olukoyede explained. After extensive investigations, several properties were forfeited to the government. Despite some titles being revoked by Enugu State, the EFCC has managed these properties until the official handover.

Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the EFCC for facilitating the return of these properties to the people of Enugu State. He acknowledged them as a part of the state’s common patrimony.

The transferred properties include residential buildings, transmission equipment for radio and television stations, and a medical facility.
