El Rufai is not a religious bigot, Fani-Kayode defends him over Muslim/Muslim ticket comment

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode said the former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai is not a religious bigot, a Muslim fundamentalist, terrorist or a fascist.

He made the statement on Thursday while reacting to a viral video that surfaced online showing where El Rufai was heard telling a group of Islamic scholars that Muslim/Muslim governorship ticket would be sustained in Kaduna State beyond 20 years by God’s grace.

El-Rufai in the viral video had told the Islamic scholars that he picked a fellow Muslim as his deputy in 2019 because he is aware they would win the election without of Christians votes in the state.

Fani-Kayode in his reaction noted that when the former Kaduna State Governor alongside the Kogi State and Zamfara State Governor challenged the new Naira redesign policy in court, Nigerians considered them as heroes but because of his comments about the Muslim/Muslim ticket, he is now called a religious bigot, terrorist, a fascist and Islamist fanatic.

Fani-Kayode said that if El Rufai exhibits any of names he is been labelled with, he would have being the first to publicly oppose and condems his actions.

He further noted that the former Kaduna governor and other northern APC governors ensured power shift to the South, and that if not for their effort Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would have emerged as Nigeria’s president.
