El-Rufai Reveals Plan to Remove Tinubu in 2027 While Keeping Bosun Tijani as Minister! Is This the Beginning of a New Power Shift?
El-Rufai Endorses Minister Tijani’s Continuity, Signals Political Realignment for 2027

In a notable declaration, Kaduna’s former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly expressed strong support for Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. Speaking at the recently concluded Arewa Tech Fest in Katsina State, El-Rufai emphasized that Tijani’s contributions to Nigeria’s digital sector are so significant that his position would remain secure regardless of the political landscape in 2027—a future where President Bola Tinubu might no longer be at the helm.
During his address, El-Rufai lauded Tijani’s impactful leadership and assured attendees that the minister’s role would be preserved in any administration that succeeds Tinubu’s current government.
“Bosun Tijani is making commendable progress, and I believe his service will continue even under a different government,” El-Rufai stated confidently.
The Arewa Tech Fest, a comprehensive three-day event focused on technology innovation and development, convened entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, investors, and policymakers committed to advancing Nigeria’s technological frontier. The event was organized by El-Rufai himself, highlighting his proactive role in fostering regional technological growth.
Tijani, who delivered the keynote speech, addressed themes of digital transformation and innovation, underscoring their importance for Nigeria’s future in both public governance and private enterprise.
El-Rufai, however, arrived late to the festival—an apology accompanied his explanation about a critical political gathering held the previous night.
“I had to participate in an urgent coalition meeting yesterday evening at 8pm, aimed at consolidating efforts to ensure President Tinubu’s continued leadership,” he revealed. “Unfortunately, the meeting ended too late for me to make it here immediately, as Katsina Airport closes after 8pm.”
Once a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), El-Rufai’s political trajectory appears to be shifting. His recent defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in March marks a strategic move away from APC dominance. This transition signals his growing influence in a broader coalition aiming to challenge Tinubu’s incumbency in the 2027 general elections.
With his latest remarks, El-Rufai not only affirms the existence of a formidable opposition alliance but also underscores Tijani’s reputation as a technocrat whose expertise extends beyond partisan boundaries—hinting at a future Nigeria where technocratic leadership could gain renewed prominence amid changing political currents.
