Rising from its meeting held on the 14th of March 2023 at Ezimo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, members of Ezimo Unity Forum, the flagship organisation of who’s who in Ezimo, restated their endorsement of the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and his running mate, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai.
The forum said, “We wish to restate our support for the two in the upcoming governorship election in line with their unanimous endorsement and presentation of the symbolic Ofo stick by Ezimo Council of Elders, traditional rulers, town union, leaders of thought, women and youths earlier in January 2023.”
The president of the forum, Mr. Onyekachi C Ugwu, said the forum “has an obligation to abide by the decision of Ezimo people that Dr. Mbah and Barr Ossai are two formidable personalities whose achievements in their chosen endeavours speak volumes of their competence and capacity to lead the state into its next chapter of greatness”.
Ugwu added that, “Irrespective of Barr Ossai being an indigene of Ezimo and founding member of the forum, their support is borne out of the fact that he is a perfect complement to Dr Mbah, being that he is well read, organised, versatile, dogged and exposed to the rudiments of corporate governance.
“Ezimo will always be proud of him for what he has been able to exemplify in the community, his selflessness and commitment to the overall progress of Ezimo.”
The forum also endorsed the candidacy of Hon Onah Solomon Izuchukwu who is running to represent Udenu Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly. The forum, according to the president, said Onah “is one of the latest political revelations in Udenu, a young man with enough intelligence and stability, humility, good intra and interpersonal relationships with the people”.
The forum, according to Ugwu, “believes that electing him to represent Udenu in the House of Assembly will open a new vista of deep connect with the people, flood gate of democracy dividends and quality legislations to better the lots of the people”.
The forum therefore called on all Ezimo sons and daughters, home and abroad, to turn out massively to join the process of electing the PDP candidates.
In a similar development, Members of Ezimo United 4 Mbah & Ossai has called on Ezimo people to demonstrate full ownership of the Mbah/Ossai ticket by trooping out en masse to vote on the election date, insisting that ‘Ezimo will return 99.09% of votes’.
Addressing our reporters, the coordinating chairman of the group, Hon Chinedu Onuh, stated that “the intra community body is leaving no stone unturned to appreciate PDP for the laudable achievements of the government in Ezimo, such the community’s standard asphalt road of over 16 kilometers, the RAMP 11 Ogbele Obollo-Amaogbele Ezimo earth road with dual drainage, the multiple health centres, the multiple boreholes, Enugu State Polytechnic, Udenu campus; multiple appointments and employment of Ezimo youths in government as well as civil service, and the walling of Community Secondary School, Ezimo, and the provision of 40kva power generating set to power Ezimo borehole.
He said, “To cap these up, the party chose one of our illustrious sons as its deputy governorship candidate. For these and many more, we owe PDP an obligation of voting massively for her candidates.”
