Ever Since Father Alia Became Governor-elect, Herdsmen Have Been Killing More People In Benue -Ortom

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has alleged that the Benue State governor-elect, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia is responsible for the rapid influx of killer herdsmen in the state after since he won the gubernatorial election in the state on March 18, 2023.

According to Sahara Reporters, Samuel Ortom who spoke in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary Nathaniel Ikyur alleged that Father Alia is using the face of the church to wreak more havoc on the fertile Benue lands and he is more concerned because these set of people are bloodthirsty and they’ve been killing his people.

Ortom further alleged that he did not shut out the Fulani from Benue, but the killer herdsmen have been using the opportunity that Alia won the election to disrupt the peace of the state and there has been an increased rate of the numbers of Benue people being killed by the killer herdsmen in the state.

He said, “Ever since Father Alia became governor-elect, herdsmen have been killing more people in Benue. My suspicion is that our oppressors want to use the face of the church to wreak more havoc on the fertile Benue lands. Therefore, his success or not will have a dent, positive or negative on the church depending on how he navigates between satisfying his sponsors and keeping the Benue lands safe, and away from the bloodthirsty herdsmen. Already, the herders are excited and moving into Benue with speed.
