FCT Minister’s Aide Responds to Lamido: Wike Isn’t Part of Your ‘Unlawful Group’

The Senior Special Assistant for Public Communications to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has refuted allegations made by former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, claiming that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, engaged in illegal activities concerning the sealing of the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Lamido accused Wike of causing chaos within the party and demanded his removal, criticizing him as a “disaster” to PDP, after the FCT Administration sealed the party’s national secretariat due to unpaid ground rents accumulated over 28 years, despite multiple notices issued since September 2023.

In response, Olayinka emphasized that Wike upholds the rule of law and does not tolerate unlawful conduct.

“Wike is not part of Sule Lamido’s personal circle of lawlessness and disregard for regulations. He believes that everyone must adhere to the law, especially when it comes to the affairs of the FCT,” he stated.

He also challenged Lamido’s criticisms, questioning his influence within the PDP beyond his personal political ambitions.

“We have no interest in engaging with someone who acts as if the PDP is solely his own. Since stepping down as governor in 2015, what has happened to the PDP’s presence in Jigawa? Apart from Sule Lamido and his family, there are no visible representatives,” Olayinka remarked.

He concluded by reaffirming Wike’s commitment to ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the FCT, while declining to enter into a verbal dispute with Lamido.
