FG, NLC To Meet Over Fuel Subsidy

The Federal Government is expected to meet with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at 2pm, on Wednesday over fuel subsidy.

Joe Ajaero, NLC National President, disclosed this during an interview Wednesday morning on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily programme.

“Petrol subsidy is gone,” stated Tinubu in his inaugural speech on Monday. The remark immediately caused fuel lines and panicked purchases across the country.

Ajaero weighed in, saying the President ought to have inquired about the effects of the reduction of fuel subsidies on Nigerians on the streets.

Among the solutions he cited were the restoration of the country’s four refineries and the supply of transportation for employees from Nigeria.

“Government seems to have shown interest in discussion,” the NLC leader stated. They contacted us as of last night, and we set today’s (Wednesday) discussion to start at 2 p.m.

All other concerns will be tackled there because you cannot simply claim there is no subsidy, cease production, and abandon us to the whims of the market and those looking to maximise their profit by reselling goods they purchased for N10 for N100. We’ll need to figure out what to eat if there isn’t any more garri. According to Daily trust.

Ajaero called for a review of the President’s proclamation and stated, “The pronouncement by Mr. President is as good as law and if in the process we make a law that is not practicable, the same people that made the law can look at it.”

“Does it make us happy to hear that the subsidy is gone and people begin to suffer? Isn’t it part of our leadership responsibilities to consider ways to lessen the suffering of the populace?
