FG urges workers to comply with revised public service rules

The Federal Government has urged its employees across the nation to familiarise themselves with and adhere to the updated Public Service Rules (PSR).

Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Gead of the Civil Service of the Federation, on Wednesday, stated that the revised PSR would serve as a guiding framework for employees to uphold principles such as transparency, accountability, and efficiency in their work.

She noted that adherence to these rules would help achieve the desired service standards in line with global practices.

Yemi-Esan made these remarks at a one-day awareness workshop organised by her office for stakeholders, directors, and deputy directors from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

She further explained that this workshop marked the beginning of a series of similar events planned following the introduction of the revised PSR.

“As you are aware, the revised Public Service Rules which was unveiled on July 27, 2023, serves as the backbone of our administrative framework, guiding the conduct and responsibilities of those entrusted with serving the public.

“These rules are not merely a set of regulations, but a commitment to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all our endeavours,’’ she said.

Yemi-Esan said the idea to hold a service-wide workshop on the revised PSR was conceived immediately after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the 2021 PSR on September 27, 2021.

“The planning of the workshop had commenced under the supervision of my predecessors but has now come to fruition today. This is the first in a series of sensitisation workshops that is being planned and the next phase of the sensitisation will include non-core MDAs,’’ she said.

According to Yemi-Esan, the revised PSR will provide the framework for fulfilling the expected duty, ensuring that decisions are made with integrity and fairness.
