FIFA World Cup Playoff: Super Eagles Confirm Squad & Starting XI vs Gabon
The Super Eagles are set to take the field tonight as they face Gabon in a high-stakes 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff match.
Ahead of the crucial World Cup African playoff which will kick off at 5 p.m. today, November 13, Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has revealed his starting XI.
In goal, Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali is expected to command the box. The full-back positions will be occupied by Bright Osayi-Samuel and Zaidu Sanusi.
Central defence will see Fulham’s Calvin Bassey team up with fast-rising star, Benjamin Fredrick, forming a partnership designed to frustrate Gabon’s attacking threats.
The midfield will be marshalled by Wilfred Ndidi, who will also lead the team as captain, alongside Alex Iwobi.
Naija News reports that tonight marks a milestone for Iwobi, who will make his 90th appearance for Nigeria. The role of Ndidi and the Fulham versatile star will be crucial in controlling the tempo of the game and linking defence to attack.
Up front, the Super Eagles will rely on a dynamic attacking trio of Akor Adams, Samuel Chukwueze, and Ademola Lookman to support the team’s talisman, Victor Osimhen.
