Former Oyo Lawmaker Abdulganiyu Oseni Dies After a Long Battle With Illness

A former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Abdulganiyu Oseni, popularly known as Aiyesoro, has died.

Naija News reports that Oseni, who represented the Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency, served in the 8th Oyo Assembly during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

He was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

A family member confirmed the news of his death in the early hours of Tuesday, though the cause has not been officially disclosed.

Sources close to the family told Westernpost that the former lawmaker had been battling health challenges in recent months before his condition deteriorated.

Oseni was remembered by colleagues as a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly for the development of his constituency during his time in the House.

Reacting to the development, a federal lawmaker representing Oyo, Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef, expressed grief over the loss.

“It is devastating news. Who are we to question Your actions and decisions, oh God? May Almighty God forgive your shortcomings, Hon. Abdulganiyu Aiyesoro,” he wrote in a condolence message.

In other news, the family of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has been hit with sadness following the deaths of his son and grandson.

Naija News understands Moro had lost his grandson, and days later, his son also died.

Speaking on the sad incident, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, described it as a pain no family should bear.

In his condolence message, shared across his social media handles on Monday, Saraki prayed for God’s strength and comfort for the Moro family to bear the losses.

While the details of the deaths were not revealed, Saraki described the incidents as a dark season for the Moro family.

The former Senate President wrote, “To lose a grandson, and then, only days later, a son, is a pain no family should ever have to bear.

“This double bereavement is a deeply difficult moment for the Senate Minority Leader, Distinguished Senator Abba Moro, his wife, and their family.

“Toyin and I extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences, and pray that the Almighty will strengthen them, comfort them, and surround them with His peace through this very dark season.”
