G-5: Why history will be kind to Ortom, Ikpeazu, Ugwuanyi – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said history would be kind to members of the G-5 governors for standing for equity, justice and fairness despite their losses during the February 25 election.

DAILY POST reports that some of the governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party who named themselves G-5 lost their senatorial bids during the election.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State were defeated in their various senatorial districts.

Speaking on the matter during a media chat with some selected journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Wike who is the leader of the G-5 said though the members lost their elections, history will be kind to them for producing a Southern president.

He said, “Ortom said even if he loses his senatorial election, let equity, justice and fairness prevail. He may not gain it now. But history will be kind to him.

“Same applies to Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu. Makinde said even if he lost his governorship ambition, he was interested in the unity of Nigeria”.
