GOOD NEWS: FG Begins Distribution of Food Palliatives to States

The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of assorted food items to state governments as part of palliative measures aimed at alleviating the impacts of the ongoing global economic challenges, as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu had authorized the release of 42,000 metric tons of assorted grains from the National Strategic Reserve to be disbursed to vulnerable individuals across the country.

In compliance with this directive, collaborative efforts were undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to coordinate the planning and transportation of the food supplies.

Mrs. Zubaida Umar, representing the Federal Government, officially inaugurated the handover ceremony to Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State. The event was attended by dignitaries including Sen Abubakar Kyari, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, and Sen Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security.

Sen Kyari extended commendations to NEMA and security agencies for their meticulous efforts in facilitating the distribution process.
